Candy spent most of her day playing with Harrison. Keeping him happy. Trying not to worry, but her nails were a clear sign that that wasn't working so well. She didn't bite her nails often, but today's stress met it harder on her today. Harrison had been good for her, to keep her focused and sane. Especially as he sat in front of her, playing with his toys while wen rested next to them both.

But when the door opened, and she looked up to see her Dad, worn out but smiling. She couldn't help but jump up and run to him, hugging him tight as she buried her face in his chest.

"Dad! They did it. You're..." She couldn't even form another coherent sentence.

Things had gone well. Elektra could not be happier about it. Her husband was still out of custody and now the children had their father back. Seeing their reunion touched her. Despite herself she smiled and dared to hope that maybe someday Bruce could have the same chance at freedom they had given Dexter.

She would have to see that they left soon to go somewhere safer. The plans for that were already set in motion though.

For now she could just enjoy the moment quietly with them.

Bruce wasn't quite that positive about it, but he never was. He knew all too well that they'd all have to leave very quickly in order to avoid being caught, and while he wasn't enough of a killjoy to bring it up immediately, it'd have to get brought up soon.

He was somber-faced as they came home and found Candy and Harrison, standing next to Elektra close enough to touch.

Dexter let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding, hugging Candy back tightly and placing a kiss on her hair. "Are you okay?"

She's really going to resist the urge to cry right now with how happy she is. Because with Dexter free... she couldn't be any happier. "Yeah. Of course, I am. Aunt Elektra and Uncle Bruce did a good job."

And unwillingly she let's go. But only long enough to pick Harrison up now and bring him over to see Dexter. "I think someone else has missed you too."

Dexter ignored everyone else in the room for the most important one. His son.

A big grin took over his face as he picked up the infant and spun him over his shoulder. "Hey buddy. You have fun with Candy?" Harrison gave some happy cooing as a response, and Dexter felt a warmth. Almost.. a belonging.

She knew one of them was going to have to be the bad guy and break this up. It would not do anyone good if they got caught now. Sure the kids and herself could probably get out of it alright. Dexter and Bruce on the other hand... they would not be as lucky.

Elektra reached out and took Bruce's hand to signal she'd take care of it. She knew living life on the run must have made him especially jumpy about their current situation. She turned her head and gave an order to a maid in Grecian to grab the bags she had them set up earlier.

Anticipating what needed to be done, being on the same page as him - there were serious reasons he loved this woman. It was hard to do it every time he left, and sometimes he considered not coming back at all. It wasn't fair to her to be clinging to a husband that she only saw a few times a year. But Bruce knew better than to suggest that, and in truth, he relied on the break from running to keep him sane.

He hadn't seen his brother in even longer than that, though, not to mention Candy and Harrison. It was a strange sort of blessing to get to see them now, in these circumstances. Bruce had become inured to crises, by regular adaptation and on purpose for keeping his heart rate low, so it meant that he stood there and squeezed his wife's hand back and otherwise let them talk.

He turned and saw the signal, nodding in his sister-in-law's direction and hefting the infant over his shoulder - who also seemed to sober at the serious cast the room had taken.

"Candy, get the carseat," he said softly, but firmly, bending to pick up the bags with his free arm.

(OOC: This was Bella's idea and she says she'll pick the order back up after my tag~ >3)

[Okay so, Gale is actually here. He just hasn't revealed himself yet. So where was he exactly? Hiding out in the bathroom and pretending he was prettying himself up for the visitor. He's got to make himself look presentable for the father of his girlfriend after all, right? Working down a coal mine every day makes the stains hard work to get out of his skin after a while.

Truth was, Gale was nervous about meeting Dexter. About interfering with the family reunion when really he was just a friend of the family. At least that's the way he looked at it. He had to make himself known eventually though, preferably before they'd all gone out the door, so finally he let himself out and sauntered over to them trying to remain as casual as possible.

He offered a smile. One which faded slightly when he realised how bad his timing had been.]

Hey, did I... miss something? You're not leaving already are you?

Candy had sort of forgotten about Gale for a moment, even after leaving the room a moment to fetch the carseat. She should have expected that. That they'd have to leave immediately. But of course Elektra and the others were several steps ahead of her.

Gale had already stepped out into the living room by the time she had returned with the seat. "Oh yeah..." Just going to take Gale's hand now.

"Umm, Dad. This is Gale. My boyfriend."

Gale, your timing sucks. >>; namedfortragedy November 23 2010, 00:47:13 UTC
Gale. She should have known that he would come around at the worst possible time. Not that she had anything about the boy. He seemed worthy of Candy's affection so far. But, they were on a tight schedule. A boyfriend just wasn't in the equation.

She allowed introductions to go through before reluctantly letting go of Bruce's hand to fish something out of her pocket; one very old key. "Gale as much as I love your visits we're on a tight schedule here." She stepped over to hold out a key for Dexter. "This is for you. Everything that this key opens is free for you to use except for the white room. I want you to lock that up the moment arrive and trust me you'll know which room it is when you find it."

"I.. Alright." He knew better than to ask what that meant, cocking an eyebrow and accepting the key with a nod. "Thank you. Both of you." And thennn he turned his attention on Gale.

And stared. Harrison giggled, reaching out for Gale, but he was a bit too far away to do any damage.

"So. You're Gale." After a beat, he remembered to hold out his hand. "I'm Dexter, the step-dad."

[Gale couldn't help but grin at the sight of Candy as she came to take his hand. He wasn't surprised that his arrival hadn't been met with much enthusiasm. Obviously they were kind of busy right now and he had just barged in on them. Still at least Dexter was still here.

He couldn't help but smile as Harrison giggled and reached out for him but it was the man holding the child he was here to really see this time and from the way things were going he had better hurry up with the introductions. Slightly unnerved by Dexter's staring, especially with memories flashing up of what he had witnessed on the community, Gale took his hand a little tentatively and shook it, making a point to meet his eyes.] Nice to meet you. Uh, are you taking a holiday?

Bruce had plenty of experience keeping uninvolved people uninvolved, so he verbally stepped in, saying, "They have to catch their flight. I know this is abrupt, but we really can't stay long."

None of it was actually a lie, which let him look almost painfully sincere even as he apologized.

FFFF WHAT'S ORDER creepyshitking November 23 2010, 21:39:38 UTC
Dexter nodded in agreement. "Right. You should... probably say goodbye to Candy. For now." Was that insensitive? He wasn't sure he cared, and he had only just met this boy - but he obviously cared for his daughter so perhaps he could've been a little less... Dexter just sighed, what was the point anymore? "Sorry," he repeated, shrugging hopelessly.
