Dexter feels close to Bruce, being that they both have "monsters" inside. He doesn't understand why it upsets Bruce so much though. It seems like such a waste to him, when Bruce could be doing what he does. Dexter knows there's a way to control The Hulk (though he doesn't now It as that yet, and refers to it as Bruce's very own Dark Passenger) and without knowing the specifics of the science involved, he feels certain there's no cure. If there's no curing his affliction, he doesn't see how Bruce could be any different. Other than that, he genuinely gets along with Bruce and has come to be used to his company.

Dexter feels a kindred spirit in Azula. They both have awfully apparent daddy issues that seem to come up every time they speak, and they seem to share similar morals. They both consider themselves "soldiers" and carry on in a righteous sort of fashion. Instead of finding her annoying or threatening, Dexter finds himself intrigued. Often when they speak, he finds himself unable to properly respond because she's so unlike anyone else he's ever met, and he finds it kind of refreshing actually. I don't think saying he enjoys their interactions would be overstating it.

Dexter feels for Kurt. Having been an outcast as an adolescent as well he can relate. Though Dexter's 'coming out' wouldn't have gone over quite so well. Again, Kurt matters like all kids do, but there's something more. He feels a connection to Kurt and genuinely wants to know how he's doing. It could be because Kurt was raised by his father and therefore knows the other side of Dexter's coin. Again, Dexter's creepy extends to all the high school DDDers.

Being that her father was murdered and she wishes to avenge him, it's hard for Dex not to take an interest. All virused pancake-eating aside, he definitely understands Yako deeply, and feels for her as well.

Claire Stanfield.
Dexter finds it hard to take Claire seriously - like, this guy actually kills people? Bzuh? But he has a sort of reserved respect for those doing his work. Though Claire may not be so deliberate as he, Claire only kills bad people from what Dex understands. And that earns Claire a sort of unique brothers-in-arms status. And that's why he finds it even harder to keep things from the other man, and often ends up telling him much more than he intended.

Dexter is extremely wary of Shelly. He may have recently told him too much, but he's not too worried about the guy telling anyone. He had a feeling about him, that he too was harboring his own Dark Passenger, but when he found out Shelly was a contract killer it threw him off base. He's never had any experience with killing like that, and he has to stalk the poor guy some more before he can determine if he's deserving of Dexter's Dark Avengeance.
