Devastation

Zuse limped quietly down the alleyway, pulling his black cloak tighter around him in an attempt to hide his brilliant glow. This wasn’t supposed to happen. None of this was supposed to happed. He’d been so content with his club, the music, the people, hearing whispers from every corner of the Grid as to how everything was faring.

Not that he couldn ( Read more... )

Flynn walked up the embankment as he looked onto the Grid. His creation. The events which had happened were sure to be told throughout many cycles. He felt the need to meditiate often, his thoughts focused on his son and Quorra. They were the most precious things in the world to him. He couldn't afford to have them sacrificed in anyway.

Flynn sighed as he walked. He saw a shape in the distance leaning against a rock. Who or what was it? Curiousity had always been one of Flynn's downfalls as he got closer he knew who it was. Zuse. Or what was left of him. He walked closer and couldn't believe he was still alive after the explosion.

'Zuse?...,'

Zuse hardly looked up at hearing the footsteps. He winced a bit, wondering vaguely if it was something left of the Black Guards come to kill him properly.

He couldn't have been more wrong.

The Program's eyes widened and he scrambled painfully to his feet. "Fl-Flynn," he gasped.

He wasn't sure how to react. He was certainly nervous; the last he'd seen of the Creator he'd betrayed his son, which probably wouldn't score him any points.

Yet Flynn had that sense that he couldn't ignore. Zuse swallowed back his stubborn pride and bowed deeply, wincing in pain as he did so.

Flynn looked at Zuse and frowned. How had he survived C.L.U's attack on his club? Was GEM still alive? Lots of questions went around in his mind.

'How did you survive the blast? Is GEM still alive?,' he looked around but couldn't see her anywhere. 'I thought you were dead, man,'

"I should be," Zuse admitted. He was shaking slightly, swallowing with nervousness. "I...I kept an extra pair of light wings in the club."

He paled further at mention of GEM and shook his head. "I--I didn't even think..."

Flynn nodded slowly. 'I doubt that GEM made it, I am sorry,' he looked sadly at Zuse. Yet, the feeling towards the program in front of him were mixed. Zuse betrayed his son and Quorra to C.L.U, not an easy thing to forget.

'What will you do now with yourself? You can't stay here, C.L.U's guards will find you and derezz you,' he gave Zuse a look over of self pity.

Zuse let out a nervous little laugh, a shiver shuddering through him and bringing him back down to his rock. "I'm going to derezz anyway. I hardly see how it matters."

He breathed, slow and even. "But you...you reintegrated Clu, didn't you? How are you alive?"

He hardly expected mercy. Some information would be nice, though. He thrived on it.

'You won't derezz, Zuse. I can stop that from happening,' he looked at the other man seriously. He had mercy. He had saved Yori once a long time ago as she was going to derezz by Sark's evil hand. He had the capacity to heal and create not destroy like C.L.U.

'Come here, Zuse,' he held out his arms and had a thoughtful expression on his face. 'I reintergrated C.L.U yes, yet I am still alive. He was created from me, he is me.,'

Zuse hesitated. This was his Creator, the man he owed his very existence to. The man he had betrayed.

He felt horribly unworthy of his attentions. "I don't understand...I turned your son over to the Black Guards...and now you offer to save me?"

It didn't make sense. Zuse was highly intellegent compared to his fellows, but he was still a Program. Some concepts were still near impossible to understand.

'I am not a cruel man, Zuse. Yes, you did betray my son and I don't know if I can forgive you for that. Yet, you were working for C.L.U and he was going to derezz you anyway. I want to try and save you because I do not seek to see a injured man die at my feet. I created you a long time ago and I believe there is still some of my old programming left inside of you. Something worth saving.,' Flynn closed his eyes then opened them again.

'Step closer,' he held his arms out and wondered if he still had the Creator power he had once used to save Yori with. 'You forget. I am not C.L.U, I am Flynn.,'

Zuse was clearly uncomfortable, but his power was draining fast. If he wanted to live this night out, he should take Flynn's advice.

He already owed his existence to his Creator. It was already a debt he could not repay. Zuse was reluctant to add more to that, but if the Creator willed for him to continue living, then he had no right to deny him such a thing.

Zuse stepped forward into Flynn's open arms, his entire frame trembling.

As Zuse stepped closer to him, Flynn touched Zuse's shoulders with his hands and closed his eyes. He was in deep thought, aiming thoughts of healing to pulse through his damaged circuits. It had to work. It did before a long time ago. His mind was fused to the program's as he directed his Creator energy to interlink broken circuits and pump energy back into his old creation.

Zuse gasped softly as the energy flowed into him, the damaged circuits and lines of exposed data closing up and healing. It gave him a sort of rush and he breathed in, his head spinning with the energy.

'You're going to be ok, man. You might feel a little dizzy at first but that soon wears off. A reboot might take place sometime too but it's all good,' he patted Zuse on the shoulder. 'How do you feel, man?,' he was pleased that his methods worked.

He nodded a bit hesitantly, pressing a hand to his temple and closing his eyes briefly. He was definitely very dizzy and he breathed in slow.

"Lightheaded, but other than that...as good as new." It was true. "I think you reset me, Flynn...now I have to reorganize everything again."

'You'll be fine soon, man. Once the dizzyness wears off. I think you did just reset you. It happens. How about a new start huh? No more betraying my son and Quorra and be a good program?,' he was smiling but a serious look crossed his face. 'I think it's only fair you grant me that.,'

Zuse was equally serious as he responded. "I owe you my existence twice over again. The mistake I made before..." He trailed off.

"I need to reboot."
