Heeeeeeeyyyyyyy... there.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm alive. 6^^;; I'm not entirely sure where I've been, to be honest...

For my fellow comment_fic members, I haven't abandoned you. I simply haven't been able to write anything worth sharing for... let's just say a while. 6>_>;; I see the daily post sometimes, but I'm not deep in a fandom right now to prompt anything specific. It's hard to inspire others to write when you can't find inspiration for yourself. I miss y'all, and it's my own fault for being terrible at checking up on your personal journals. I do believe classics_lover recently celebrated a birthday, yay~ Hope you enjoyed it! ❤

Fandom-y things:

After many years, I've finally read the first book in the How to Train Your Dragon series (plus two short stories). :D I knew the animated universe was very different from the original, but wow... The books are definitely for upper elementary and preteen boys, haha. It's cute and funny, though. I wouldn't mind reading the others -- if I can find them. That's what stopped me before (and money, of course). The copy I read was borrowed from a friend, and she doesn't have the other books.

In December, I officially joined the fan club for a Japanese instrumental trio that I've liked (loved ♫) for over two years now. I was on the fence about it for a while, despite it being free membership, because being a fan in Japan is very different from being a fan in the U.S. @__@;; There's more devotion to it. Not rabid obsession, but... well, I guess it's still obsession, haha, but there's a reason that fans (of music and sports more so than anime and video games) are often called "supporters." The ones with the time and money are like patrons.

I started playing video games on Steam at exactly the wrong time: when my winter vacation was ending. X__x;; I'm a freakin genius. At least I finally played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and then also beat Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt. I could go back and get the Steam achievements for the former and cure that one person I couldn't cure in the latter, but... I finally started playing Dragon Age: Origins. XD;;;; (DON'T GET EXCITED. I'M NOT THAT FAR. I HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK. Also I'm crazy and I've replayed far too many conversations already, ugh why self.) I bought the Ultimate Edition with Awakening and all the DLC during a Steam sale in September. I also bought other games during the winter sale. 6>_>;;;

Speaking of things I don't have time for...

I'll backdate a "what I'm watching" post for December. January is easy so far. I haven't watched a daaaaamn thing. :D (Some interesting movies and series came out in the States, and then of course certain British shows [or maybe just that one show] returned... Japan is either really behind or not getting stuff for the foreseeable future. T^T)

The Australian Open is crushing all of my tennis hopes and dreams. It loves being the least predictable major tournament... I haven't seen much of it live, but what I did see involved Murray (world #1!) losing and Nishikori losing (and Djokovic lost earlier in the day and Kerber [world #1!] lost later in the evening)... Kei lost to Federer, however, so even Japanese fans aren't too terribly sad. >:P This evening, I listened to more than watched Nadal beat Monfils. Rafa is stuck shouldering much of my emotional involvement in the men's singles. Feds and Wawrinka have the rest.

So! What else?

Last week, received confirmation that I will, in fact, be staying in Japan (at least) through the summer of next year! ^_^ I'm currently in the middle of Year 3. Now, if only the form had said something specific about my high schools... It only mentioned my prefecture (state)... That's the only worrying thing at the moment. I could be transferred. Asdfghjkl. No thank you, Board of Education Powers That Be.
