House/Year: Gryffindor sixth-year
Appearance: Brown hair, blue eyes, and slightly on the slim side. (Since he's around Sirius and James all the time, he feels he has to compete with the looks, of course.) His hair is a bit messy sometimes, mostly because he's too busy keeping up to care. After all, he sees the same people every day, why should they care what he looks like?
History • • •
The history starts with his grandfather (Hufflepuff), who was muggle-born. Then his father (Ravenclaw), who was still a half-blood (and hated that fact). When Peter was born, his father constantly reminded him that he was a Pureblood and, if Peter so much questioned anything regarding that, his father gave him tiny hex. They weren't harsh, but just enough to remind not only Peter, but himself that wizards were not to use "muggle means" for anything. Until Hogwarts, Peter was confused (his grandfather's portrait talked to him often, even if his father forbade it) and blindly followed his father's words. When he was nine, his father died and his mother (Ravenclaw) took over where before she was silent. Peter asked her one day about his grandfather since his portrait had been removed and she told him that he had no grandfather and there was no Muggle blood in them at all.
When he entered Hogwarts and became a Gryffindor, his mother was horrified. She claimed that he was in the house of blood-traitors and that he was a disgrace to the family. Not knowing any better, Peter hid himself away from the rest of the house, choosing instead to do homework or wander the grounds.
Eventually, he relaxed around his housemates and got involved in the activities. He kept this from his mother, not wanting her to demand he go back to his studies. As he got closer to his three friends, he began to open up and be his own person. Staying in Gryffindor helped him open his mind to different ideas. It was around Christmas of his first year that he started carrying on two separate lives: one at home and one at school. While he was with his mother, it was "pureblood forever!" in order to try to get into her good graces. While he was at school, blood didn't matter and he was freer. After a few years, he just got used to it.
Personality • • •
While in one aspect, he is the weak follower, the other aspect shows him as a strong force that shouldn't be messed with. Peter first followed his family in what they wanted him to do, and then he followed his friends in the same way. However, this didn't stop him from having his own mind (and his own opinions). He might not voice his thoughts often, but they're there, stewing below the surface. To him, knowing the difference between right and wrong and not doing anything is better than blindly jumping into something without knowing anything. Somehow, that all makes sense to him. With a little prodding, Peter is willing to try anything. However, his favorite things to do are studying, hanging with his friends, and getting in (small) bits of trouble. Really, sometimes he just likes to let the others experiment on him so he can hold up in the hospital wing without being bothered while he does his homework. Closet nerd? Oh yes, he is.
When he grows up, Peter wants to work with smaller children. More specifically, he wants to use his experiences with his friends to invent games or other toys for them to play with. If he can't do that, he wants to work in the child services department of the ministry to try and help Muggle children who are coming into Hogwarts. He doesn't have anything specific, though, because he doesn't want to be upset if he doesn't get his Dream Job.
Extra: Have you found your favorite quill missing? Check Peter's trunk. He has a tendency to find abandoned (or not so abandoned) quills and keep them. Really, he doesn't mean to. He doesn't keep track of them, though, so feel free to just take it back. He's also very amused that he was born in the year of the Rat (Metal Rat to be specific) considering what his Animagus form is.
