Title: Hallucination and Dreams
Fandom: Asylum!Kariko
Rating: PG-13
Short Summary: There is a fine fine line between dreaming and hallucinations. Sometimes, we mistake one for the other or dismiss one and love the other. Either way, there are misinterpretations all around. This is one of them.

If you asked her, she couldn't tell when the last time it was she'd been outside.

"What's your name?"

She mumbles it out absently, fingers curled tightly in fists, her finger nails creating crescent moon patterns on her skin.

But right now, she didn't have a need for it. She had it right here, in her head. This field of sunflowers and tall green grass and big, big sky was her universe right now. Never mind the other one speaking to her.

"Do you know why you're here?"

Her eyes roll to the right and spies the small thing on his desk. To the normal eye it must've been a simple elephant. To her, it was a dancer on the largest, most graceful legs she'd ever seen. She smiled.

Laughter rang out and she ran in the dirt path. Sunlight shot thorough leaves and petals, all the food she'd ever need for now. She hadn't laughed like this in such a long time.

She looks dead at the elephant, willing it to dance, stop being in one place. She ignores the voice as best she can.

"Do you?"

She runs into open air now, no more petals to light her way. Red clay is up to her ankles, and her white dress is stained. Somehow, this feels familiar.

Of course, it doesn't dance. She frowns, biting her lip. It should. It just looks so odd, so silly just standing there in mid-air.

"Do you recall his name? The place?"

"Sunflowers," she says suddenly, turning to face the large glasses of the voice that always, always, always asked bad things.

Someone calls her name. She turns, and suddenly, everything turns and spins, and it shouldn't. She clutches her head and feels someone touch her bare shoulder.

"There were sunflowers," She stands, flexes her fingers nervously. "Lots of them. I liked...I liked being there..."

The Voice stares at her and the elephant starts to move.

Everything starts to move.

He asks her if she is alright and she moves away, her eyes wide. He's got a leering face, mean mean mean, and he draws back. Something about him isn't right, but all she can think about is running and getting away, but she can't. She never does. He grabs for her again, and this time, he catches her and there's blood.

Her eyes dart back and forth. Where was she? Where was she?

She paces, biting her lip, the elephant is moving slow, too slow.

"What made you leave?"

She flinches.

She's screaming and there's blood, blood blood. He's screaming, she's screaming and there's thick red blood everywhere and it shouldn't be there but it is and it scares her.

"Was it him?"

"No!" She clutches her hands to her head and she can hear laughter that shouldn't be there and sees a cold cold hand reaching out for her and the elephant's broken on the floor, lame and unable to dance anymore.

She's suddenly alone, standing. Her dress is torn in shreds, and she's cold and the sky is gone. She heaves and heaves and raises her eyes. He's lying twisted before her, dead, his head at an odd angle. He's bloody and his mask is shattered. She heaves and breathes and lifts her hands up to her face to swipe at her tears. She doesn't, she screams because there is blood on her hands, blood on her hands, she did it, she did it---!

There's screaming and clattering and they're pushing her down. She wants to get out of it, the blood on the floor, but she can't. She can feel something slide under her skin, shoot through her veins and the next thing she knows is she's in her bed, scratches on her face and chest and tears on her face.

She doesn't know what to do anymore.
