Shipwreck of Intentions

Feb 04, 2005 14:18

In this trek of experience, we falter in our unsteady course
'Tis the shipwreck of our intentions
These shards of wood and scraps of metal have scattered 'round us
They settle deep into our hearts

In this the occurrence of truest purpose, we had lost ourselves
The blinding light had caused us to shrink behind reason
The mentalities of mankind had shackled us down
'Neath the splintered floorboards of this old structure
This what we had built so intently, with such bleeding passion
Ragged hands and dusty eyes
'Twas worth it all to us as we'd nothing left to give but ourselves
And by the sweat of our brows and the breaking of our backs
We'd built ourselves an empire
The lustrous exterior seamlessly barricaded our shame
The dusty floors had no audience
No man bore witness to our pain

And so it has torn us apart from the inside out
'Twas merely a matter of time, my dear
And now we cling to any piece of our past that may keep us afloat
'Though we know nothing is able to shield us from our fate
Our eventual sinking 'neath these perilous, blackened waters
