Disheartened

Nov 18, 2004 21:28

It first shone with a delicate kind of brilliance

I stood behind it with a full and swollen confidence

It resonated a sweet, fulfilling promise

Luck had no role here

It was predestined and wholly my own

I was secure behind these resilient walls

They could not
Would not

Be broken

I had relished in this

I had believed in this

With conviction I laid this wager

And after the brilliance of the day

It has only taken me through the journey

Everything I bought in with…

this

price

I  paid

Has defied and forsaken me

And I am deeply saddened to finally see

This was an alleged allegiance

In the aftermath of this devastating defeat

The night is growing darker.

There is no peace.
