Doggie in the Sky

With swede boots on, and leather pajamas,
A mask on my face, and armed with two hammers,
I gassed up my transport, a flying Ferrari,
And struck out upon a lion safari.

Soaring low, flying fast, out o'er the prairie,
I treated myself to a glass of cold Sherrie.
Then what did I spot as I flew by a thicket?
A tiny, brown doggie was eating a cricket!

"This isn't something you see when you fly!"
I said, while pulling a mite from my eye.
"I think I will set down and talk to this dog,"
Who, oddly enough, just gulped down a frog.

"Hey you, little doggie!" I shouted while landing,
"Aha!" the hound echoed, though not understanding.
The suddenly, before I could sit down and chat,
He sprouted four wings and flew like a bat.

While standing there, gazing, a lion approached,
And sat on a log to take off his coat.
"Tea time!" he said, "Come, please, be my guest."
So taking a tea cup, I sat down to rest.

"Before I arrived," I said to the lion,
"I spotted a doggie, while I was flying.
I tried to approach him, but couldn't get near,
He just opened his wings and took to the air!"

My host, the young lion, grinned, as he said,
"I think you are overtly dumb in the head."
"Oh yeah?" I replied, and stuck up my chin,
"Then why is that doggie flying again?"

He set down his tea cup and looked to the sky,
And before he could move, there was poop in his eye.
"So what do you think of the dog in the air?"
I said with a grin as leapt off my chair.

"That there," he said, "is a hairy, brown bat,
I saw him one day as he dove at a cat.
But, fear not, he's harmless, I'm sure you can tell,
It's just that his aim is not all that well."

"His aim," I replied, "how is it not good?
It looked like he hit you, from where I had stood."
"Ah no," said the lion, as he laced up his shoe,
"It was not meant for me, but rather for you."

"Yeah right!" I protested, indignant with rage,
"I'd hardly believe that in this day and age."
But still, the young lion, laced up his NIKE,
And then, darting off, he nodded politely.
