Fuel Savings

So, I did some calculations and it turns out that I'm saving approximately $400 a year in gas with my Subaru, versus the old Windstar van. The van got 19 mpg. The car gets 25. That extra 6 mpg translates to an increase in fuel economy of 31.578%. I'm currently spending about $25 a week on gas (though that is starting to climb quickly). If I was still driving the van, I'd be spending 31.578% more, or $7.8945 more. Multiply that by 52 weeks and there's $410.514 that I'm NOT spending on gas. Also, the insurance is a little lower, so I'm saving there. Maintenance is more affordable and less frequent, as well. New tires cost a LOT less, seeing as they're pretty tiny, compared to the enormous van tires. And with the all-wheel drive, I'm never stuck at home on a snowy day.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy that I made the switch. Now, what can I buy with $400? If the car lasts me five years, that's $2000 I can put to my next car!
