Here is a little about the song Albertine in Brook's own words

So Albertine, I went to Rwanda in 2005, Albertine is the name of an orphan that I met on my second visit. She was orphaned in 1994 when a million people were killed, so there’s literally millions of orphans, she lost her whole family. We met lots of children whose parents had been killed and the children had managed to escape, and these children would find themselves being the head of the household, and some of these girls, there was one called Angelique who’s my age, and she was eleven at the time of the genocide, and her parents were killed and she fled to a remote village, and the other kids had no one so she became in charge of the whole family, at eleven, so you’ve got all these kids who’ve never had a childhood, and it’s pretty full on, but Albertine was an orphan that I met, and my friend who introduced me to her was actually the guy who saved her life, who had hidden her, so he basically looked at me before he introduced her and said Brooke you must go back and write a song about Rwanda, and I knew that I had to write the song when I saw these people, so every time I sing it I remember Rwanda and the people there and I hope it helps
