MAIN INFORMATION:
- What characters are allowed?
Any Assassin's Creed characters. That includes characters from Altaïr's Chronicles. Major, minor, even beggars and knights (provided they are not OC's).
- Not allowed?
No original characters. Variations and AU's of the canon characters are accepted. If you have any doubts, ask a mod.
- How do go about joining?
Make a character journal. Join. Start posting! Joining is not specifically required, but new members are nice.
-What about crack RP? Slash? Sex?
Sure! Just remember to keep other people in mind. AU's (alternate universes) and other plots carried from different games are fine too (there will be duplicates that follow different plots from different games, that's totally fine). Also, keep it to Assassin's Creed.
Don't try to force RP sex on anyone, put a NSFW warning tag on a post (see the tags info below) and put the entry under an LJ cut. If someone tries to suggest it, don't feel obligated to "follow along." Seriously.
SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
-Where are we, anyway?
For the sake of argument, the dressing rooms are in a large complex comparable to a huge, aristocratic complex accurate to the time period (late 12th century, Middle East). What's outside of it will probably be up to the person posting, for plot's sake. Dressing room!reality is apparently very malleable.
-Are they in person?
In person/face to face unless otherwise stated.
-What's the premise?
The entire purpose of a dressing room is for characters to get together, meet one another and interact, hopefully with hilarious results. You can also, as muns, take this place as an opportunity to try and grow in your roleplay skills or scout out characters for games. Or just hang out.
-Character death, anyone?
MAIN RULE: ASK A MUN FIRST. Sure, this is Assassin's Creed. But the other people here aren't NPC's. They're people with RP accounts trying to roleplay here, just like you. The rule of thumb is to have mun consent through all parties, anywhere, ever.
-What about the character post-mortem?
Wait however long you want, have them reappear at some point. They'll be the same as they were prior their death experience, without remembering the actual events/thread/circumstances surrounding said death. Please address related questions to a mod.
-What's the deal with these weird terms?
OOC: "OOC" means "out of character." It can be used as an adjective such as "This person is so OOC when they play So-and-So." It also is used to imply comments made as a mun, not as the character you're playing. Generally OOC comments will be made in brackets such as [ooc: texthereblahblah] or after something like this:
/character name
ooc comment.
IC: It means "in character." Can refer to how someone plays their pup or the status of speaking (as opposed to OOC comments, there can be IC comments).
Mun: "Mun", short for "mundane" is the word for the person behind the character being played.
Godmodding: Don't do it. Godmodding is when you attempt to control/second guess another character's actions without the other mun's consent. You are one character, and your character does not always know everything that YOU do. Keep it that way. i.e., no Mary Sues, Gary Stus, you cannot control another character's actions/know their thoughts, etc. Remember to stay within your character's limitations as a human being. No one has complete control over their environment. Please refrain from these types of actions.
-What's the deal with tags?
They help organize things within the community. Mods will create tags for every character that posts here, and if you don't see your character's tag, please contact one of the mods and we'll be happy get one up for you.
Tags also help with searching for posts within the community. For important information, use the tag "mod post." For journals written by people roleplaying Al Mualim, use the tag "character: Al Mualim."
You cannot create a tag, but if you want one to be made, consult a mod about it.
NOTE: A LIST OF TAGS IS
HERE. ADMINISTRATION:
-Who are the mods?
Right now, there is only one. You may refer to her as "that mod" or Meg (
one_who_flies). She is currently looking for other prospective mods, because she's a college student and in several other communities; so she'd love a hand with this dressing room would be very lovely indeed.
-Can has mod contact?
Meg would prefer you contact her via the latest mod post (all mod posts will be tagged "mod post") or by either
one_who_flies or
ignixferroque (her personal LJ). What the mod says, goes.
-OOC chat/comm?
The chat is acdressing. Use Meebo (a free, browser-based, multi platform/multi program IM service) or AIM. You have to register a screen name from AIM first, but that's easy enough and free (if you don't already have one). If no one's in there at the time, just wait, someone may show up. Once people do show up, let everyone know who you are, what you would like to be called, etc.
There isn't an OOC community yet. Try the chat (Meg is usually there as "Verily Ergo"). Feel free to wander in and ask questions of us. Want to directly contact a mod? Post something in the latest "mod post" entry. If that doesn't work, email Meg at zerogarnet@tenchiclub.com.
-GOT ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?
Drop the comm a line and we'll see what we can do for you.
