Hello players! If you've noticed, the main community layout has been changed to something far simpler [but still pretty - thank you so much,
chuukoku!]. First of all, please allow me to apologize for doing this at such a short notice and without asking for your input on the layout.
Secondly, the layout change is because of the new default comment page which LJ has rolled out pretty recently. Issues of aesthetics aside, a whole slew of features have been removed. These include, but are not limited to:
-Ability to mass-unscreen comments
-Ability to preview comments before posting
-Subject Titles for comments
There're also a lot of other issues relating to the new comment page, but the ones mentioned above are most relevant to our mods, particularly the lack of ability to mass-unscreen comments which is a lot of hassle when giving out prizes for games. I've asked the mods, and they've agreed that a simple customized comment page, which still has most of the old features listed above, would help them out a lot in their modding work, hence the switch to a simpler layout that's neat and uncluttered.
Unfortunately, this means that I've had to switch to a Plus Account so that customized comment pages can work, so you'll be seeing ads at the top and bottom of the page unless you have a Paid account, then this isn't an issue. According to LJ, "we are also planning to create a new S2 commenting style which will appear & function in the same way as the old site scheme commenting page to be included in the near future." They've also promised to look into including the old features into the new comment page and fixing other issues, so this is hopefully temporary.
I'm honestly not sure how long the current customized comment page will stay, since this is beyond my control, but I would like to ask for your understanding! Once LJ has rolled out the new S2 commenting style that's supposed to function like the old default, we'll decide our next move. But for the sake of the mods, I hope you can put up with the inconvenience for the time being. Thank you so much!
