Yep, as long as it's an insert song that was played during the TV show, it won't count.

I hope I got it right, but FMA (2003) had Hagaren Song File singles, right? If the songs weren't used in the series, then those would be examples of character singles! I apologize for not being able to give a better example; it's hard figuring out what was used in a series and what wasn't. x_X

Well i think i kind of get it now. I read a little bit about it on wiki it's basically songs not heard in the show but song by the character's voiceactors themselves right? but it can't be an insert song like the chick in Stardriver sings in a lot of the eps.
