Yesterday was a strange day.

The first thing that was strange was unusually bad traffic kept affecting me. My drive to work normally takes 10 minutes and has no traffic. Yesterday it took 20 and had really bad traffic for a part of it. The problem wasn't even on the side of the freeway I was on; traffic in the other direction was about ten times worse, being a literal parking lot. If I had been going that direction, I wouldn't be surprised if it would have taken me an hour.

Then later in the day, I had to interview someone. They ended up being 45 minutes late due to traffic. I don't like interviewing people as a general rule. I was doing a couple phone screenings on Monday. This guy was one of them, he was the best I've talked to for the position so far. The other guy was so bad, after 5 minutes I was looking for an excuse to end the call. But yesterday's interview went really well, despite starting late.

Finally, when I left work, on my way to my appointment for the day, I noticed the signs reporting traffic conditions saying that part of the trip that normally takes 20 minutes in rush hour traffic was going to take 39, which would have put me there late. That was the first time the report on those signs was bad enough that I took an alternate route. I was glad I did; the alternate trip only took me 20 minutes.

But I had a really good day overall yesterday. I'm not sure if I could pick out what it was about it.

It strikes me as a bit odd that I am the youngest employee of the company (As far as I know) and I am being put into an acting team lead position over people a bit older than me.
