Type O Fucking Negative

So, went to Type O Negative last night at the Roseland, first thing to note the AC works a lot better in there, because we were actually cool. Now that I'm done talking about the mechanics of the building, lets get to the good bits.

We had early entry, in fact it turns out only we VIP'd, so we got in 10 minutes before anyone else, and as we were walking in, the guard was literally yelling at the top of his lungs "SECURITY, WE NOW HAVE VIPS IN THE BUILDING"....

Ok how fucking cool is that, just the two of us walking in while they're yelling that across the building.

Cmon!

Anyway, we obviously had our choice of seats and thus took the ones in the bar, top dead center of the stage.

Opening band wasn't bad, wasn't great, not someone I would be running out to see again but I wouldn't leave the venue if they were part of the ticket.

Main opener, 3 inches of Blood. LOL ok, what the fuck? Did the 80s break loose and a lead singer stepped forward, and a death metal band went “that's got to be our sound, we must call forth the lost 80s metal scream”. No, no you don't, you're trying to hard but thank you for coming, and have a great decent back to obscurity.

And then Type O Negative - Peter came out dressed with a priest collar on, and a coffin shaped pulpit from which he was reading the set list. They started with Unsuccessfully Coping With The Natural Beauty Of Infidelity which I happen to enjoy a lot, but it's off Slow Deep and Hard, and most people have not heard it. They also played, Kill all the white people, World Coming Down, Halloween in Heaven, Christmas in Hell, and Black #1. That is all I can recall for now. Here is one amusing thing, people please, during Black #1, moshing, really? It was really a interesting show, I'm a big Type O Fan, but the juxtaposition of Type O Negative and Hatebreed was really obvious, as during cuts, people were trying to start a Hatebreed chant, and behind us I guess there was this twat who hated Type O, and was screaming shit “kill your self, die” I didn't hear it, Nancy did, so maybe she'll cover this.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the show, but fuck it's Type O, they could be playing a fair using children instruments and I'd still be in the crowd going “WHOOO”, that's just me, they're just Type O, and that's how it goes.

concert, type o negative, music
