Voting on tuesday

So I've been checking out the Nov. 4th election ballot for my little corner of the Estados. I guess I'm sort of trying to convince some of y'all to do some thinking beyond the headliners. My thoughts on some of the candidates, beyond the over-discussed Presidential race. BTW, I used http://palwv.org/pittsburgh/election/VGFall2008/vgFall08.html and http://www.smartvoter.org/pa/al/ to figure things out. I'm apparently district 23, which is awesome. I only know that because I got a flier that the Democrats sent me, suggesting I follow their suggestions.

For Attorney General, I'm going for that sexy Libertarian Marakay J. Rogers. I like her anti-capital punishment stance (particularly given PA's racially-motivated usage of such things), as well as her anti-prison-industrial complex stance. I also generaly will support a third party should all else be equal.

For Auditor General, I sort of like Wagner, the Democratic candidate. He is a marine, and I have a lot of respect for marines. The other candidates list themselves as being tough and indipendent watchdogs, but he also bills himself as effective. The Republican candidate may have twisted corporate ties to www.cartango.com, which I believe will get in the way of governing. The Libertarian candidate is a vetrinary equipment sales representative. She's also not a devoted husband and father, unlike the other two candidates!

State Treasurer is a little easier of a call for me. The Libertarian candidate and his wife "[are] strong supporters of Pro-Life legislation." I didn't know windmills worked that way. Tom Ellis decided that the League of Women Voters wasn't worth his time, and look. It cost him a vote. McCord it is.

US Representative, dist. 14 leads me to vote for Titus North, which is an awesome name for someone from the Green party. He wants to shut down foreign wars and foreign military bases, as well as restore our consititutional liberties. Works for me. That, and the Dem candidate, Mike Doyle, deigned LWV unworthy of his attention. Punked.

Jay Costa is running unopposed for Senator in the Gen. Assembly, district 43. Yawn. Please write me in, if you can, I'll do a bang-up job.

Dan Frankel VS. Mary E. Hughes, running for the fiercely competative representative in the state assembly, dist. 23 position, leave me in a hell of a bind. Frankel is the sort of jerk who ignores LWV information requests. I agree with a number of Mary E. Hughes' ideas, and parts of her political philosophy. Pro-mass transit, anti-coal, pro-green industry. She lives in Squirrel Hill, to. The problem? Well, read her position paper. Hoew doos I tyep polyticle maenifestao?

Edit--I send Ms. Hughes an email, stating my support of many of her ideas, but disappointment as to the sloppiness of her position paper. The woman is a teacher! I mean, what the heck! Who does that? The same people as those who refuse to vote for B3rawk or Juan?
