Emotional Intelligence and Snacktime...

We watched a video today on Emotional Intelligence in Ed. Psychology. Apparently, only 20% of life success is measured by I.Q. EI, or how you understand and express emotions, regulate these emotions, and use them in your everyday life is a big factor in a successful life.

A study was done on a group of 4 year olds. They were given a marshmallow, and told they could eat the marshmallow now, or wait until the researcher returned and they would get TWO marshmallows instead. Some kids ate the marshmallow. Others waited, doing everything imaginable to ignore their temptations. They contacted these students 20 years later. The ones who waited had more successful lives and scored over 100 points higher on standardized tests. The others were emotional wrecks. Which kind of 4 year old would YOU be? Would YOU eat the marshmallow?
