Hey...I'm new, though I'd do the intro thingy before figuring out what y'all do here.
Introduction
1. Name: Colleen. No acceptable versions of my name were available as usernames, so I used the title of a story I've been thinking about writing.
2. Age: 19
3. State/Country: Chicago (Illinois, United States, like there's another...)
4. Education: Attending a university way too expensive and prissy for me to want to admit to it.
Hobbies:
What are your hobbies? Mostly reading and writing...often rereading favorites. I also watch a lot of movies, often the same one over and over again. And I'm one of the only people I know who actually listens to music. Not plays it in the background, but puts it on just to listen. Though there's sometimes dancing involved XD
Favorites:
1.What are your favorite movies?: Briefly...Arsenic and Old Lace, Serenity, Hamlet 2, HSM 1&2, The Birdcage, Rent, Ma Vie en Rose, Memento.
Since it's not here, my favorite plays: Rent, Wicked, Titus Andronicus, Into the Woods, The Laramie Project
2. What are your favorite books?: The Earth's Children Series, Harry Potter series, Narnia Series, everything by Ellen Hopkins, Thirteen Reasons Why, The Time of the Ghost, Memoirs of a Geisha, Bedlam's Bard, The Hobbit, Twisted
3. Who are your favorite authors?: Mostly covered by series under 'books'. Also R.A. Salvatore and Holly Black. Ellen Hopkins is cool enough to be mentioned twice.
4. Who are your favorite actors/actresses?: I don't follow many...Um...Nicolas Cage, Sandra Bullock, and Johnny Depp (not just because he's hot)
5. What are two of your favorite quotes?: "Going to church doesn't make you any more holy than going to a garage makes you a car."
"Strike a glass and it will not endure an instant; simply do not strike it, and it will endure a thousand years."
6) Who are your favorite movie characters and why?:
Hm...I like the grandmother from Ma Vie en Rose, because she's just generally awesome. Albert from The Birdcage for being the quintessence of histrionic. Ditto for Dana from Hamlet 2. And his cat.
7. Who are your favorite book characters and why?:
I like Malky. You've never heard of him, but he's a character from one of my best friend's NaNos. He's a gay British cat with many powers of persuasion. I'm also a big fan of the girl from Thirteen Reasons Why, because she's a bitch and doesn't hide from it. I like the Grandmother from the House of Night series, because I want to be her when I'm old. I love Haduma from the Earth's Children series, because she's so awesomely old, and still knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. And she's still happy. And of course, let us not forget Dobby, who is probably the best HP character there is.
8. What books would you recommend to others to read and why?:
I recommend Thirteen Reasons why because it's a chilling read, and is amazingly done narrative. I wish I could emulate it. I recommend Donorboy, because I love the format, and it's probably the best done in that genre. The Ellen Hopkins books because they're pure beauty (ah, if only I was older / a lesbian).
Writing:
1. How long have you been writing?: Since 1995 (At which point I was 6)
2. What was the first story you wrote?: I vaguely remember there being a dinosaur, but the plot is gone from me.
3. Who is your favorite character that you've written about? I'm probably most in love with Pijiroki, who was the steward to the royal MC from my NaNo last year.
4. What is the longest story you've written and how many pages is it? 7 Brothers, which I never finished, cleared 65k words. About 150 pages in Times New Roman 12 pt, if I recall.
5. Do you plan on becoming a published author/novelist someday? If I ever finish something worthwhile.
6. What character that you've created, have you written about the most? Jeffery, the main character of 7 Brothers, who I also have used in a few short stories, and is in consideration for my NaNo this year.
7. If there were any three questions you could ask your favorite character you've created, what would they be, and why? I don't know much about him at all...I really wouldn't know where to begin.
Other stuff:
1. Do you have any communities of your own? If so, what is the link?: Yes;
community.livejournal.com/shellcolz/ It's a very small group my best friend and I started a few weeks ago to get some inspiration. Hoepfully we'll keep it going, though I don't know if we're looking for loads of members.
2. Do you have any web pages/message boards of your own? If so, what is the link?: Nope. Well, I have a DA, but I haven't used it in years.
3. Do you know of any communities that you would highly recommend to other members?: Even though I just joined, GenreChallenge seems pretty cool.
4. Do you post your writing at any other sites/message boards/etc? If so, what are the links?: Just here, for now.
5. How did you find out about Creative Fantasy? What made you decide to join?: Um...4 am. I think you all understand.
