Mad Tea Party

The song "Mad Tea Party" by D is from their single, "Yami no Kuni no Alice". The single is quite romantic actually, it has the same pull that "Princess" does for me, with the idea of finding a prince or savior desiring to whisk you away.

"Mad Tea Party" is actually tremendously fun, I had an immediate vision for it (I like to see visions like PVs in my head when listening to songs). The song incorporates horns and... I think in general helps provide for chaotic sort of feeling (even though the song in reality is chaotic at all). Just the pace of everything gets you excited, makes me feel lively and ready to jump around and kick things and eat things, maybe things you aren't even supposed to eat, like teacups and plates. (Can you tell I'm offering you some of my vision here?)

The live from their 2008 Tour Alice in Dark edge DVD is fantastic! The set is clearly Alice-inspired, with playing cards and vines, and in the very back of the stage at the top they have a host of people in giant, fuzzy, forest-creature costumes, like cats and stuff, playing trumpets. What I would have killed to be there, it looks so fun~
That can be found here, of course. I wouldn't deny you of media!

The lyrics are also kind of interesting and... paradoxical. They definitely emphasize insanity but link it to something, deeper, almost? Or they try to. My favorite lyrics are these:

"There's no bread flying through the air," someone said.
"I am going mad," I said.
Who decides?
The bread wants to turn into a butterfly.

The translation I found is here.
