Thoreau or Emerson
I meet with an academic advisor yesterday. To discuss my options. Skipping a great bit of detail because I have homework due in a couple hours....
I realized today that picking a major was bigger than I thought. By doing it I'm standing up and saying "I'm a Thoreau" or "I am an Emerson." Thoreau when out and did what he said and believed and wrote about. Emerson, just wrote it. Emerson made the living and had a family and the tidy picture. So, who do I want to be?
I know that I greatly admire Thoreau, and for that I can't believe I almost became an Emerson.
