So I may or may not have slightly spent the weekend dicking off and watching Yo Gabba Gabba! with Mike, Norvell and Pepita instead of completely concentrating on my homework. In its defense, it is a very bizarre and absorbing children's show, especially the "New Friends" episode starring Jack Black. I can't decide if he was playing it completely serious or completely sarcastic through the whole thing, but it's quite a result. We also hung out at Jessica's and Max's new place Sunday evening, watching the opener of the new season of Project Runway (already??) and making ice-cream. I hope we get to do that more often in the future.
Anyway, I still read Nova and most of my Translation Theory stuff, so I'm not too far behind. I do need to start my research paper for Senior Sem, though. Louis said it could be on anything relating to new wave sci-fi; I'm thinking of doing it on Robert A. Heinlein, so I'm gonna pick up some books tomorrow while I'm doing the reserved reading at McHenry. It's going to be tough making it anything other than a glorified Wikipedia article, though. Thoughts?
Managed to schlep down to Comicopolis after work to get the rest of the books for Graphic Novels--but of course they were out of Nat Turner, which I'm supposed to have read for tomorrow. I really should have gone on Friday but I was feeling pretty gross so a nap seemed preferable in the short run. But at least they put me on the call list for when the new shipment comes in, and the guys who run the place are cool so I don't mind going in again. I'm two stamps away from 15% off a purchase, too! (I caved and bought the first TPB of Chew while I was there, too, and read part of it while eating dinner. Good stuff, man.)
Mike has some sort of mysterious trip planned for us over the weekend that involves a (chartered) bus ride to the city and some sort of show. I was initially hesitant about going back to Stockton for the third weekend in a row, but I can't help getting excited when Mike actually plans something for us. It makes up for all the times he can't even pick a place to grab lunch. (Although I suppose I need to be better about that as well, so I shouldn't pick on him.)
Other than that, it's been storming like jumpin' Jesus here; most everybody I know was awakened at around 3 or 4 a.m. by the loudest thunder in the history of everything, and the city's been having intermittent power outages all day. I don't think it's raining now, but there's supposed to be an even worse storm on Thursday, so we'll see.
I thought I was going to have to work tonight (somehow Kischka and crew still haven't hammered out the new schedule), but I guess not. Oh well, back to the grind.
EDIT: Ha, the prospective love interest in Chew is named Amelia. Too bad she's blonde and her character design is pretty tame, or I'd have to cosplay her just for the fun of it.
