Oh my god, you poor thing. I'm glad you managed to get it all washed out and had a secondary food source readily available. ._.

The Graphic Novel course as racially and politically charged seems something of an abnormality. I suppose if graphic novels are being taken as literature, then they have to be meaningful or something. Something. And professors who don't understand the technology they use just blow my mind in a bad way. It's not that hard to learn.

...I have no idea who Samuel Delaney is, and feel shamed by this.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't really sure what we would be getting into (I kind of assumed Maus would be on the reading list no matter what) but given that the class is focused on human rights violations, it's going to make for an...interesting quarter.

I'll have to lend you some of his stuff. He's a gay black science-fiction writer who came to prominence in the 60's and 70's and who is known as much for his theoretical work with postmodernism as his science-fiction. I didn't know who he was either but he's fascinating. Plus he also writes pornography. XD

Oh man, yes please to the lending. That combination just blows my mind. Maybe I should see if the library has anything.

...also, damn you woman for adding to my ridiculous reading list. Grarghghg.

Speaking of sci-fi/fantasy/books you should read if you haven't. Have you heard of A. Lee Martinez? His novels are delightfully trash-novelly. They remind me very much of Spider Robinson's humor without the whole meaningful hippy shit to ever bring you down. The books are two hour reads at longest and are simply delightful. If you have a few spare hours, I'll take the one I like best to FedEx and ship it to you. :)

=D Always here to help! So far of what I've read, I've liked Nova and The Motion of Light in Water (his memoir) the best, but we've still got Trouble on Triton and the Nevèrÿon series to get through. His short story "Aye, and Gomorrah..." is pretty trippy but I think you would like it and the psychosexual stuff.

I have not heard of this A. Lee Martinez! Perhaps I can find his work and take something on my trip to Germany for downtime reading. :] Yeahhhh bitchezzz we should totally do booktrades, too. I would love to ship books to you! (Also, do you know if it's Braden or Norvell who has my copy of Soon I Will Be Invincible?)

I believe it's Norvell, as our one shelf library doesn't hold much and I think we made a concerted effort to return all the books we had before moving.

Book trades! Yea-ah.
