Only 2 finals left, and with Tax Law behind me, the world looks bright - last final is WEDNESDAY.
Each passing law class reveals a slew of new rights that I and every American possess that we may not think about, or even know about. This sememster was no different.
Criminal Law: The right/fact that I can't be conivicted for many crimes if I don't have a "bad" state of mind while committing it.
Copyright: The Right to sue someone for performing a song I wrote, even though I never registered it, but only once when I was 14 recorded it on a cassette tape.
Constitutional Law: Too many, but my personal favorite, the Right not to be deprived of property (by state/fed gov) w/o DUE PROCESS OF LAW. Finally learning WHY the college made a big long handbook on the procedure to handle a student caught cheating. It wasn't because they wanted to be nice and give the student a chance to plead her case. It's like this: Education is paid for in advance, paying for something in advance in most states gives you a contractual right to it, when a state college tries to take away that Contractual property right from you (to an education) the 14th Amendment mandates them to give you a trial (Due Process). Very cool.
Tax Law: .........Well Almost every class taught me about new rights. Screw tax.
