} 029 - [VIDEO, public] - in which Amanda acts like there are huge double standards

Jun 02, 2011 22:01

[Amanda is, as usual, sitting in her room, upon the bed. The difference is that, aside from her bed and clothing, her room is completely bare. Guess who lost all her stuff again? Amanda doesn't actually care about this issue at all, but that won't stop her from purposefully trying to sow anger and unrest!]

If I'd done to someone else what Edward Sexby did to the Marquis, you'd all be gathering your torches and pitchforks and calling for me to be confined to a cage, or thrown overboard. You call me a monster because my tests damage their subjects, but hasn't Sexby done the same thing? You heard the Doctor--broken ribs, internal bruising, a year of recovery! Physical therapy and surgery! I'll ask again: hasn't he done the same thing?

[A pause, as if she cares about everyone's opinion on the matter. SHE DOESN'T.]

The answer is no. In truth, he's done worse than anything in my games. All of my test subjects are given a choice in what happens to them, but I doubt the Marquis was afforded the same luxury.

[See the little smile on her face, Bargelings? It's incredibly self-satisfied and a little hateful.]

I was immediately locked in Zero simply for temporarily blinding my warden, while you all forgot to confine Edward Sexby for brutalizing an old man. Oh, no, excuse me--you overlooked it. I didn't mean to misquote you, Tony.

[Tony's the one who told her Sexby was being taken to Level Zero, in a private comment.]

The point is that despite the similarity of Sexby's misdeeds to those of many inmates, he's being afforded preferential treatment simply because he isn't despised.

Inmates, I'm sure you know exactly where I'm coming from. And wardens: please, continue to deny the existence of this blatant double standard. It becomes more amusing with every denial.
