It's always been that way. The test subjects were always the victims, while John and I were psychopaths. Never mind that we were testing drug dealers, gangsters, murderers, rapists...people whom the system set free after a slap on the wrist, ready to hurt or kill again. We were monsters.

People just want an easy scapegoat.

It's going to take time, but it will happen. The point is that he's gotten to a place where he's considering tolerance at all.

The rehabilitation is instant, but you can't fix stupid. That's what's causing this delay.
