I hate my computer

Ok...since the move back to my mom's, things have been nice. I only have one complaint. My new computer sucks. I gave KK my souped up computer and I took Mark's newer computer. Normally when I buy a computer I buy a cheap one and then I add better stuff to suit my needs (i.e. graphics card, RAM) but I haven't been able to fix up this new one ( Read more... )

Uninstall any programs or services you aren't using. I know you probably already thought of that, but that is probably the simplest a way to free up memory that doesn't cost any money.

My computer has been acting up in the heat the past few days as well. I found shutting it down more often helps too.

I do shut it down every night and there aren't many programs on it because it is new. I hate my life (Emo).

Actually most new computers come with a bunch of crap that you don't need.

Go to your control panel.
Add or remove programs.
Add/REmove Windows components.
Then click details for each category. You can then choose several items that you don't need that eat up memory. For example uncehck the indexing service, that is a big memory hog. I doubt you need fax services, and many others within the subcategories.

I hope that I am not being redundant. But I have found increase performance doing this.
