Being a Grown up

Well, our summer house project was to be the bathroom. The goal was a proper (as in not spring loaded) shower rod, a new toilet, a new vanity, a new over the medicine cabinet lighting fixture, and just maybe new linoleum. Well, it ain't going to happen. We had some additional, unexpected expenses this summer. The shower rod is cheap, and was purchased previous to the unexpected. The toilet (which prompted this plan) needs to be replaced. The vanity broke over the summer, but is still mostly functional, and it's just going to have to limp through. I doubt, at this point, we will even consider the floor. The lighting fixture does need some work done because it has a short. But I guess I'll just work on that one day, and see what happens.

I'm kind of bummed that the whole thing didin't happen, but today we worked on the touch up paint in preparation for doing the shower curtain rod. So at least that will be done tomorrow, so that is something.

As a kid, the thought of home improvement, any home improvement, seemed like a waste of time (and why did my parents insist on doing it themselves instead of hiring someone). Now I'm a home owner and I get it. Contractors are expensive, and there is great pride in doing the work oneself. So, hey, that's life. It won't be a full upgrade on the bath, but we will have a new shower rod installed soon, and heck, that's something.l
