A letter to my congressman

Dear Mr. Costa,
I am hoping you will become a co-sponsor and supporter of Representative Jerry Nadler's Respect for Marriage bill. Marriage is important for families, and the protections and responsibilities it entails at the federal level are important. For a brief time, California was a state that respected the promise of equality that America makes to its citizens and the world. And while I hope the state returns to its promises, you have an opportunity to bring the federal government in line with equality for all of its citizens by recognizing *all* the marriages performed by the various states (including those performed by the state you represent), and guaranteeing that those rights and responsibilities are respected by the federal government and by all the other states as well.

Thank you for your time,
crboltz
