Things I forgot to mention about London:
- After the insanity that was getting me back to Germany they almost didn’t let me back in. I wish I was kidding. Let me set the scene; it’s 9:30am, I have barely slept (1.5 hours on the plane), the guard was speaking to me in German after several days of only English speaking, and I had just had the most stressful 5-7 hours in recent memory, and I am at Passport control.
The guard flips through my passport and sees that I have a visa for studying in Germany and then looks up and attempts to confirm with me that I am a student. Uh.. yes? He then asks to see another form of ID like from school.
Because my visa, issued by the German government, didn’t appear to be legitimate enough he asked to see my student ID. I don’t even remember what I showed him. It was either my ISIC card or my train ticket. Either way I don’t quite understand why they wanted to verify my VISA.
- The tube trains are tiny. The seats face each other along the train and there is enough space between them for a person to stand while holding the upper railing. It was a feat trading places with two women standing so that Kortney and I could get off at the next stop. That is the only downside to the tube.
- For some reason I have eel written down in my notebook.
- On the ground (for tourists presumably) there are painted words telling you to “LOOK LEFT”, because of this I had a song from the lion king stuck in my head for the entire time I was there. This is the song in case you have no idea what I am talking about:
