I found this link today and decided to give it a whirl. Permapuppies
At first thought I thought this was amazing because puppies are so damn cute and who wouldn't want a puppy for ever, but then I started thinking of the ethical reasons behind it and the fairness to the dog. What type of complications will it have? Part of pre-ordering a puppy is you select the termination date? Do I really want to control the fate of my dog? I have never really had a problem with cloning and genetic alteration in the past. Yes I know its everywhere from the vegetables we eat to trying to regrow organs, etc, etc. However I do see a difference in trying to regrow your own organs for transplant if you have cancer to that of genetic entertainment. We are mutilating a dogs genetic structure for enjoyment and that I don't agree with.
Sidenote: What is worse is that I got this link in an email from Borders Bookstore. I think I might be done supporting Borders now....
