vocal ensemble letter

At William H. Taft High School, we have always been taught that anything we wanted could be ours with a little work and determination. Our Vocal Ensemble is renown for its caliber- we love music and it shows in our sound. For the last six years, our ensemble has won unanimous superiors- the highest rating of caliber possible.
This year we have shown great determination to challenge ourselves even further, doing so in our exploration of new genres, new styles, new harder repertoire, and new goals. In the past, our Vocal Ensemble has been unable to represent Taft beyond city limits.
We know we’re good. We want everyone nationally to know this as well. As one of our goals this year, we would like to compete at the National Heritage Vocal Competition being held in Las Vegas in April. A thirty-five-member ensemble, this will be highly costly, requiring close to 12,500 dollars.
Yes, at Taft we have been taught that everything we want can be obtained through hard work and determination; but this is not always the case. Many of our members are low-resourced; they have amazing voices- voices that will be unable to be heard because of their financial situation. This is where you come in.
We have heard time and time again within our community of the benevolence of your business- both in fundraising and donations. We ask that you please consider our ensemble for such donation. It would truly benefit all of us continue in our endeavors to become better musicians, people, and ultimately represent Taft and our community in the best way possible!

Thank you so much for your consideration
Graciela Guzman
Taft Vocal Ensemble President
