some of Obama's future cabinet kind of concern me rahm emmanual and eric holder namely. i'm still no great fan Hillary Clinton, but we shall see where this new leadership will take us (hopefully out of Iraq and Afghanistan). i still hold fast to my cautious optimism; he can't do any worse than the last guy

it is perhaps well to remember that thanksgiving as a national fixed holiday was begun by a presidential proclamation of abraham lincoln, at the height of the civil war as a way to encourage the american people to be mindful of the blessings we enjoy despite the darkness that then--as now--enshrouded our nation.
when we allow ourselves to let the crass commercialism, the genocide, and all the rest completely dominate our thinking on our common days of celebration, we let the forces of darkness win. with each individual that ceases to celebrate any given holiday, the bonds that forge us into a common humanity grow ever weaker, leaving us isolated from our fellow humans on a deep spiritual level. this is what the enemy wants---divinde and conquer.
sam grabelle will be featuring at got poetry live sometime after the new year--i highly recommend gathering your chosen family and celebrating each other at the blue state on that particular tuesday. i'ma make sure both my brother AND my sister make it to that particular night. my sibs on my birthfather's side too, if i've met them by then and we hit it off a tenth as well as i have with dan and laura.
....still toying with the idea of ressurecting the spoken word on a night other than tuesday....let me know if you'd be interested in helping to make that happen

last time, i made it down there was to see andrea gibson...yeah a while ago.
i haven't been to AS220 since last october...i really would like to reconnect, but it's just not feasable in the near future...
and the last time i wrote was even longer than that.
