New Me, Same Journal

Mar 05, 2005 00:14

One lonely, hormonal day in July, Lesley decided to post what would be, for several months, her last livejournal entry. There was nothing particularly special about this day, except that it now joins the endless and unfortunate ranks of days Lesley decided to abruptly cease an activity she previously vowed to devote a fair amount of energy to upholding. Over the next 8 months, Lesley would embark upon a complex, empirical journey of self-discovery in which she changed schools for the seventh time in her short, but robust lifetime (excluding preschooling), acquired a driver's license (which until recently coincided with an unscathed driving record), and, along with numerous other notable milestones, managed to become even more dynamic, neurotic, volatile, and indubitably stressed than she had previously been. Due to some unseen shift in the cosmic balance of the universe, on one overcast Friday night, after being deserted by all potential insant messenging candidates, and ingesting such an ungodly amount of Extra Winterfresh chewing gum that sleep was no longer an option for the next 1.284 hours, in a fleeting moment of ignorance as to any other possible method of wasting time, Lesley finally (to everyone's delight no doubt) decided to update her livejournal! *gasp!* (pause for effect) Knowing her massive list of journal readers would be enthralled with her decision, Lesley beamed in pride as the words flickered across the screen in their "Courier New" splendor. However, as she reached the monumental tenth line of the user entry input field, and Tchaikovsky's Russian Dance resounded from her headphones courtesy of iTunes and an unnamed peer-to-peer client, she realized that it had indeed been a nonsensical amount of time since her last update, and to recap the past eight months without boring, annoying, depressing, confusing, frusterating, or all-of-the-aboving her fans would be lunacy. Therefore she vowed to begin again, to update her electronic memoir at least weekly, if not more, to keep the public informed of her various "Lescapades", and to revive the wonder that is http://www.livejournal.com/users/crazyobsessive!!! (she also vowed to quit talking in the third person, because it's just weird...)
