I don't understand the issue between Dalai Lama and Tibet. Why is his face not even allowed to be in public?
The information online resembles the article on the 400-something km^2 glacier that disappeared "due to global warming," but scientists "were not concerned about a rise on sea level" which I'm not sure if it means they're not concerned with the sea level going up, or that it wouldn't effect the level...(Runaway Ice Chunk Worries Scientists, 3.26.08 IHT).
VOLUNTARY CONFINEMENT (MotherJones.com, March/April): This is @#$%ed up, and their harsh conditions are openly acknowledged to be torturous, shouldn't this be banned? There is unjustified and unarticulated torture happening to people in reality, and people undergo it voluntarily for money?! How very sad, aren't there more constructive and non-degrading, deameaning ways to utilize prize money? How about for ideas, such as the trapezoidal prism of oil barrels Jeanne Claude and Christo are planning to erect over a pyramid? Although I didn't fully agree with the academic trend of saying the "war is all about oil," it is, at the very least an interesting commentary through the pun "oeil" which in French means eye, and the beauty of the fact that their enormous projects are entirely self-funded. However since I get so much flack about "bsing" on art... Funny, I knew a friend nicknamed Zoid who traveled to Morocco and began creating a "new language" replacing words with silly terms. Although it's not a fictional term for pitchers of beer to be referred to as "scissors" and I wondered why (I don't suppose the term dates back to Edward Scissorhands?).
The information about Sedgwick is inconsistent! What the @#$%? I recall distinctly reading a biography about the way the Factory life broke her down while having her be labeled as a "seedy superstar" and that Warhol actually saw her as a disgusting low-life (in biographies I've read in books in university Fine Arts libraries) and that she was subjected to shock therapy several times and increasingly fell apart each time:
"She couldn't walk. She'd just fall over... like she had no motor control left at all. The doctor did a dye test of some sort and it showed the blood wasn't reaching certain parts of the brain... A dye test sounds dangerously toxic.
Please let me know if US's congressional candidacy is as entertaining and unnerving as the number 1 candidate whose banners are all hung upside down around town, and Korea's number 7 candidate who is not afraid to make a fool of himself by singing songs outrageously out of tune broadcasted from a van with an enormous fixture in the middle of the busiest area of Gangnam-gu accompanied by a near-harem of young campaign fans/interns.
This sounds stupid, and affirms the "Americans don't know geography" stereotype but wasn't Burma a separate nation or region within Myanmar? Why is it Burma formerly known as Union of Myanmar?
