Beauty Within

Jul 12, 2007 20:19

My heart can’t laugh,

And my soul has forgotten how to sing.

I have become like the long ago Beauty,

Trapped in a palatial prison.

The story untold, the romance ripped away,

Found the Beauty wandering from room to room

Not asleep, it’s true, but never fully awake;

Too afraid to dream.

Encased in thorns,

The Rose was forever trapped.

Kept from life, surrounded by death,

Existence her only goal.

There was no Prince.

Nor were there dragon or witch.

There was just a woman like me;

Searching for the way out.
