[insert swing dance pun here]

Today in U.S. History, my psycho teacher decided to treat us with a taste of the 50s by making us swing dance.  So we had this other student trying to instruct the whole class on how to dance.  The boy:girl ratio is ridiculous, so some girls had to dance with other girls while we eventually got our turn with a guy.

Of course there's etiquette when it comes to this kind of thing.  The boy treks to the girl's side of the room, and with all of his chivalry, he asks, "May I have this dance?" and the girl can't refuse and must say, "Yes you may."  No more, no less.

Okay, since this is me I'm talking about, I have an extremely hard time understanding movements and such.  That is why I failed to play the drum set and never completed one of my childhood dreams.  So I think the hardest thing for me was the first thing...the side step.  I had no idea which foot to use, where to start, and all that.  Oh my goodness, I was a lost child.  I didn't have a partner in the beginning, so I had to dance with my teacher.  Oh man, it was so...alsdkjf I was kind of glad that my peers didn't really see me dance with her since they were occupied with their fail.

Eventually, I did get a male partner for the more fun parts.  His name was Raymond, and he's like a head taller than me.

We had fun with the spinning to the point where I got dizzy.  I think I almost toppled over on the desk.  However, the hardest part was doing the pretzel.  (I was mildly disappointed when my teacher decided not to let us be thrown in to the air.  I thought that would've been so fun!)  During the pretzel, Raymond and I had the hardest time understanding what to do with his right hand.  At that moment, I was glad I was the girl, because I didn't have to do anything but take the male bait.  We kept on getting tangled, and I didn't really understand how to get his arm over his head...especially since I was significantly shorter.  ROFL, but I kept on laughing through the whole thing.  I think the both of us had to ask around the class on how to do it, and we barely understood until he got instructed.

In the end, I really did have fun.  In my 17 short years, that was the first time I actually danced with a guy.  Ah, I should do more things out of the norm.

dancing, school, dork
