Alas, I am here and alive. I apologize for the last couple of whiny, depressed posts. I was stressing and thinking about things while trying to finish up the last of my finals which was not helping whatsoever. But the stress is gone now and I am feeling much better. I have taken August as a vacation month of sorts in that my Oral Exam the final of all finals is scheduled for the end of September. I decided to give myself a break from school and not touch my presentation until September. Since tomorrow is the first day of September and it's a Friday, I think I'll just read my paper to refresh my memory. Surprisingly enough, I am not worried or stressed about this exam. Come September 26, that may be a different story although I hope not. I hope to pass the exam with distinction, this is my goal.
So basically for the past month, I have been going out and doing things and enjoying my life again. Merideth is coming up tonight to start to teach me how to cook and watch Grey's Anatomy. How I love the McDreamy...let me count the ways. I just started watching the show since Jen from Ass Co. brought it over and me and Sarah borrowed it to watch the last 6 episodes of season 1 in one night. Good times. I have also been out to Newport with Derek to see the mansions, went swing dancing, and to Waterfires in Providence (something I haven't done since high school). Last night I decided to work on my high school scrapbook. I've decided that this will take forever and I will never finish it. Hopefully, I am wrong because it would be nice to have.
Liss and Bryan also had a house warming party which was pretty fun. Liss got herself all fishnickered and was rolling around on the floor. Bryan interceded on her attempts at making a mudslide and just started throwing stuff in the blender like ice cream sandwiches, Autocrat coffee syrup, and some spearmint flavored liquor. It was good. I had a bit to drink myself but was fortunately not rolling around on the floor and, thank God, not crying in a bathroom. I had spread it out enough so I didn't get myself to that point.
I realize I never posted about the wedding.
Tons o' fun. I got little sleep due to anxiety and excitement. The bridesmaids had breakfast with Liss and her family and then it was off to get our hair done. Liss helped to calm me down on the way to the hair dressers. Then it was my turn to be a good bridesmaid as the hairdressers were running late and Liss was waiting to get her hair done. She ended up being the last one done and Abby had waited for her so Liss would have someone to calm her down on the way back to the house. Liss drove like Mario Andretti and was beeping, yelling and tugging at her veil so people would get out of her way. She was even driving in the turning lane down Main St., Barrington, went over the median and went through a red light. I don't think I've seen anyone get in a wedding dress that quickly.
There wasn't much time for pictures at the house, so we hopped on the Party bus and went to the church. The ceremony was nice and we went off to take pictures at the park across from the Carousel. The guys brought their beer steins and had some inside joke that they refused to tell anyone about. The reception was so much fun after I got past the can't-eat-cuz-my dress-won't-let-me issue. We all danced like crazy people and Bryan's brother, Liam, was the craziest (even before Andy bought him a few drinks). Liss and Bry got each other with the cake and the DJ made them kiss as long as the crowd was cheering. Bryan made a play for the cake but Liss knew exactly what he was doing and stopped him. Most of the guests left around 11PM and Bryan's parents paid the DJ for en extra hour. So the wedding party and some closer family member stayed and danced for another hour. After we saw off the newly weds, and dropped off Abby at her house, got my car at Liss's, I got to Derek's at about 1:30AM and after showers we got to bed about 2AM. We all wanted to do it again soon but without all the planning and dresses that don't fit once you eat stuff.
All in all, I have been doing good and I am happy because for once in 2 years, I have a life back - free time - and it is glorious. Coming up - I'm going to a Journey concert and going to Florida the week after my orals, and I may start a belly dancing class. Woot.
In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.
