i can see why the health service is in so much debt sometimes!
oops sorry i didn't realise it was so long since i had updated!! I started my job on monday... had a whole week of induction... from my point of view that means i got paid for doing buggar all... but as there were 15 of us on the course that cost the health service a fair amount of money in wages!! it has been a thoroughly boring week for the most part although conflict management was interesting (but scary) and CPR and manual handling were obvious useful, but i have to say 'basic IT' was a joke! i am not joking when i say the hardest thing i did was send an email to the computer next to me! seriously this 2 hour course including 'what happens when you left or right click the mouse?' 'what is this?' (pointing to the desktop and then a window) and 'this is how you minimise, maximise and close the windows' and other such pointless things! but on the up side i got 100% in the test at the end!! but never mind it's done now and i start on monday! nice thing is i already know at least one junior in my department (coz she was on my course) and my senior (Beccy) and another of the seniors who is doing some teaching with me next week (Ruth) were juniors on orthopaedics when i did my placement there! And randomly Ruth was in Nick;s class at primary school! tis cool coz one of the things i was worrying about was having scary seniors and beccy and ruth aren't scary at all!! anyway, off to watch a film now (on dvd unfortunately as i'm trying to save money!!)
By the way I got told by some butch looking 'data protection officer' (who knew buggar all) it is 'against trust policy (i think she made that bit up) to write emails in CAPITAL LETTERS COZ PEOPLE GET OFFENDED WHEN YOU SHOUT AT THEM AND WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS CAN SUGGEST THIS!!! for goodness sake i mean... come on!!! The funniest event of the week was when a man talking about health & safety got to the end of his talk and said 'and that's all about hea...' and promptly tripped over the power cable to the computer!!!! genius... couldn't have been planned better! and everyone else thought it was amsuing when the CPR man talked about choking and i started to spontaneously cough like i had something stuck in my throat and then everyone was looking at em so i went bright red!!
Anyway i'm off (i really am!)
