TGIF?

I went to the doctor's this morning. After she figured out that I wasn't there about the referral she'd given me over the phone the day before (to go to a physical therapist about the ankle), she confirmed that yes, I have another sinus infection, and prescribed me:

- two different kinds of antibiotics. One to take right away, one to go with me to London because apparently she can't trust me to go 10 days without getting sick.
- Trader Joe's gummy bear kids vitamins, "you know, the ones with zinc and vitamin C and echinacea. They really do help!"
- to stop being so stressed out all the time and get more sleep. Sigh.

I spent most of the day training my replacement (you know, for the job I technically left in May). She is whip-smart and works fast. I can already tell that my biggest worry with her is that she won't have enough to do. Total win.

After work, I went to a Goodwill. I'm trying to hunt down a trucker hat to take with me to London to comply with our "rules" for the trip, and so far all the Goodwills I've checked out in Virginia have an extremely poor stock. This one was no exception. However, they had a phenomenal selection of women's boots. And as just last night I'd had a lovely dream about putting on My Cowboy Boots, that were my favorite boots that I loved that made me happy, and since outside of dreams I have no such boots and I had just realized I wanted them I enjoyed looking through all of them.

I found two awesome stompy brown pairs of boots, just the perfect amount of scuffed up, that reminded me of the "dancing shoes" of the Austin rugby player who taught me how to two-step at the gay cowboy bar there. It was love at first sight, and both pairs were exactly in my size - except, when I tried them on, they were in fact about half a size too big for my feet. Did my feet shrink? Boo.

But then I tried on another pair of classy knee-high brown boots that would look great in the winter with a skirt at work, and they fit perfectly! And were only $5! And after I bought them I realized there was kind of a huge hole in the side of them!

There's a lesson there somewhere, but I'm not sure what...

work, life
