Things that are fantastic today

1) My Subconscious
Last night I had this really long, detailed, in-depth expository dream about a girl who once dated an old acquintance of mine. In the dream, I spent a day at her family's house in the backwoods of Ohio, hanging out with her younger brothers, patiently explaining to them that some families didn't have guns and that I'd never shot anything, furtively doing some loops around the concrete basement on her motorcycle, and finding common ground with her mother over tea. She didn't show up until about three quarters of the way through, when she came home and apologized for her family and then sweetly and shyly asked whether maybe I'd like to go to a movie on Saturday?

Weirdest thing is I haven't seen this girl for maybe three years, only met her a few times, and haven't thought about her for aaaaaages. But the dream was great - sometimes I wish I could get my subconscious hooked into a word processor, because this was the dream-equivalent of a subtle and elegantly written short story with themes of finding familiarity in strange and uncomfortable situations and the richness of human relationships.

Plus, of course, she had a motorcycle and wanted to take me to a movie. Hot.

2) Kate Bornstein
More specifically, this article about WALL-E and butch/femme, sent to me by my darling Carmen. I can't pick just a few lines to quote because it's so interesting in its entirety, so you should just read the whole thing!

3) Sweet-ass temp gig
I am back today for about a week and a half. That means a paycheck, getting enough money to cover the rent, and having regular internet which I can use for applying to jobs! Look out, nonprofits in the DC area with open entry-level positions, my resume is coming your way!

4) Rugby
Last night was our second full-contact practice and tomorrow is our FIRST GAME! We're playing Chesapeake A-side and with Pax River in a motley against Furies B for a B-side. My life never feels quite so good as when there's rugby in it.

lists, rugby, dreams
