So my housing woes are over!!!
...well, at least for a few months.
Some of my rugby teammates are about to sign a year-long lease on a house, but since most of them won't be around until the school year starts again, they were looking for people to sublet over the summer. It's a lovely house with a backyard, and I'll get my own room for about as cheap as I could find without living either in a less-than-desirable neighborhood or way out of town. Probably most of the other residents are going to be my teammates, so it's set to be a good summer. The house is out near the Brookland metro stop, which will give me a chance to check out a different part of the city, so I'll know a little more about another area when I go to find a more permanent lease.
The other part of this plan (besides OH LOOK A PLACE TO LIVE!) is that come August when the lease is up, I will hopefully have a job and therefore a steady income, which will give me a wider range of choices for where to live because a) I will have money and b) I will be able to apply to places that don't allow cosigners.
Of course, there's also the Very Important consideration that in August, I will NOT be attempting to graduate at the same time that I am looking for an apartment. And this graduation business is kind of difficult and time-consuming, not to mention STRESSFUL.
It feels kind of like a cop out/laziness/procrastination, but while I know I could find a place to live now, if I wait for a few months my options will expand and my stress will decrease.
Plus, of course, living in a rugby house for the summer will be SO MUCH FUN!
