A few of a girl's favorite things...

This weekend was kind of excellent. It started off on the right foot with an unusually sucessful visit to the shoestore after work on Friday. I'd been in earlier in the week to try to find some slip-on sneakers for Japan or a pair of nice black pumps and had no luck. I was returning to check out a pair of shoes I'd seen earlier that I thought I might like, if I just reconsidered... but RIGHT BELOW those shoes were a pair of slip-ons that were perfect (as modeled by Ahimsa). It was like fate!

Then I found a cute pair of simple black pumps with cute bows on the toes, and when I took them up to the register - I realized there was a buy one get one free sale on! So I got both pairs for under $30. SCORE.

(Also, I decided this was the universe rewarding me for something I'd done right. But that's a story for another day.)

Next, I went to campus and to the library, and picked up all the books you recommended that were in the system (The Color Purple, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, The Passion, and Fun Home), plus Kerouac's On the Road because I haven't read it yet and I should.

My plan had been to go to the gym, but I was loaded down with books and shoes and I decided, screw it, and went home to feed myself some dinner. After that I went to Yuma to watch Lagaan with Amy and Victoria, in all its four hour (2 minutes longer than gone with the wind!), cricket and land tax glory.

Saturday I slept in until 8:15 (when in my life did 8:15 become sleeping in?!) and headed to the gym before meeting up with the rugby team to meet our new rookies and begin their induction into the new love of their lives. We've only got a handful, as is usual for the spring semester, but they seem pretty cool - plus I had so much fun finally getting to see all my rugga lovas, throwing the ball around on the quad, chowing down on Wallie's amazing pancakes, and witnessing the season's first dance-off.
After a shower, I went over to see prometheisbound and his kitties. They're very shy and didn't really let me pet them, but are both gorgeous and adorable and made my afternoon a very happy one. I also saw a bunch of people, including fianasylph , that I haven't seen for an awful long time - maybe since I lived on campus.

Saturday evening was, of course, the long anticipated Super Heroes and Villains Party. I was very excited to spend an evening cosplaying wearing a costume. I went as Sailor Moon - thus fulfilling my middle school high school dream.

Of course, I always figured my costume would have a little more character accuracy:

But I think I still looked cute.

As did "Luna"... any other anime fans cracking up at this?

It was a pretty awesome time - there was bright green Krytonite punch and sound effects all over the walls (my favorite was "DING-DONG!" on the front door), and I met a bunch of new people and danced and talked and generally had a good time.

Such a good time that I didn't get up until almost 1:00 on Sunday.

Very little can be said about my Sunday, and what can be said can be summed up in the following:

- Mythbusters marathon
- Law & Order marathon
- sweatpants, 6:00 shower, "lounge around the house" pants
- Chinese take-out

All in all? A successful weekend.
