So, today was the second day of classes for the Spring 2010 semester at my University. A female student in one of my classes brought her dog with her to class. Not on a leash, or in a carrier, just... walked right in with it. This dog was a miniature chihuahua roughly the size of a grown man's foot. As if this was not bad enough, this dog was named Pepsi and of course wore dog clothing. A magenta and lime green sweater complete with hoodie. I don't know why the fuck a dog would need a hoodie. Moving on, however, was the fact that this little dog roamed around the room for the entire class period. In a doggie diaper. A FUCKING DOGGIE DIAPER. To make it even better, this dog growled like a crazy animal when the professor came in and continued to bark at him on and off during the seminar. At one point, Pepsi jumped on the lap of one of the grown men in the class. You should have seen the look of disgust on his face as he picked the dog up and put him back on the ground.
When the professor bid us adieu, he told us "I hope you all come back on Thursday." He then looked at the dog and said, "And you too!" This lead his owner, Krystel (yes, with an e), to assure him and the rest of us that she is going to accompany her to every class this semester.
How the fuck is this even allowed? I am one of the biggest animal lovers in the world and I find it pretty ridiculous to bring your pet to class. The only thing I can think of is it might be one of those situations where it's a "disability animal" where they get some bullshit doctor to write a note about how they need their pet their in order to function like a normal human being. If that's the case, I wish that she had a normal dog that didn't make me want to punt it over a bridge like Baxter. A nice golden retriever or something. Clearly, I should petition to bring all 7 of my cats.
The bright spot of the 8 (yes, EIGHT) hours of class was that Hillary Clinton came to campus to give some sort of speech and I got to see her arrive and take video of her waving hello while exiting her limo.
