Yesterday was absolutely amazing. Where do I even start? Everything fell in line so wonderfully... I'll just start from the beginning.
Saturday morning, the mellophone section met at school early to have a "sectional" (aka climb Middlebury Mountain). Unfortunately, there were about eleventy billion people there at the football fields watching games, so we ended up just going to HeimHeim's house. We rocked out on drums, recorders, saxophones and air hockeys... and ate doughy pizza (no joke.) Then we went back to the school for our regular three hour rehearsal that the band has before competitions... that's right. COMPETITIONS. Fiiiinally, we had our first competition yesterday and it was A-MAZING. I get chills and goosebumps and heartbeats and supersmiles just thinking about it. For the first performance of the season, we were really prepared and it showed on the field. We did great. We got second place, which was expected with Concord being there. HOWEVER, we took took the Drum Major, Color Guard, AND General Effect captions... AND WE WERE ONLY 0.85 POINTS AWAY FROM CONCORD. Does life get any better than that?! If it doesn't, that's quite alright. I'm still walking on air. Tribal dance circles, VIP bus seats, and Irish drinking songs... living the best of life.
God, I love band.
