So I am both extremely dissappointed but also ecstatic (why doesn't lj have a mood for that, eh?). Bad stuff always comes first, right:
Kal Penn, of extremely Harold and Kumar and slightly less extreme but more awesome The Namesake fame, came to UNC this weekend to give a talk about how much he'd like the have Obama's babies and I MISSED IT. GAH. I had no idea it was happening until I read about it in this morning's school newspaper (which I read religiously every day). And I have no idea how to find this sort of information out so I'll probably miss the next really exciting thing to. And I love Kal Penn, almost as much as Obama, and this was about as big as Clinton dropping by NCSSM except Clinton didn't give a speech. Did you know that Penn taught a semester at UPenn on Asian Studies? I did not until 2 seconds ago. And now he is sudeenly even cooler. *Sigh*
And the really really, insanely good news: I got freaking tickets to see Andrew Bird in concert slightly less than a month from hence!! (I did just use the word hence.) Okay, not that it was that hard, but I was really worried when I saw the line of 50 people that were camping out for tickets at 8am this morning, while I was on my way to Calc. And the box office doesn't even open until 10am. But I got my two tickets (one for James, of course, since he introduced me to Bird). And the entire time I was in line, people kept on coming up and asking whether we were waiting for tickets for the next really awesome thing. Ben Folds Five! Special reunion tour-y thing, that I really want to go see, but getting those tickets will be so much harder because everyone is excited about them. But no one's heard of Andrew Bird :( Still, I have really good seats (row E, on one of the sides and it was pretty cheap, $10 each. *Is happy* If you don't know who Andrew Bird is (for shame), he whistles and plays strange intruments simultaneously. And, apparently, Everyone knows who Ben Folds is.
Looking back years from now, I think we can call today the day I began really enjoying my college experience...
Time to do the slightly less enjoyable Chem WebAssign.
