Well, I hate to admit it,but I'm reaching the beginning of the end of my semester here. Patrick went home Monday after a big send-off party (I made a spinach salad that was well-recieved by all! Nobody got sick!) He's planning on coming up to visit the NY area in January, so Lindsay (from Elmira, NY) and I are happy about that. Yuji's gone to the Antarctic for a few weeks, so we're all looking forward to the pics! I doubt I'll be able to travel extensively with the time I have left...I regret not re-doing my previous failed trip to La Serena, and not seeing the Solanos in Ovalle. Maybe as more classes end...(tango's over, btw...I miss it, frankly, but my dance partner the past few classes was pretty bad...no support on my back, and refused to admit he was screwing up. Argh.)
What else is going on?
-Umm...all the malls have Christmas decorations up...although it's in the mid to high 20s here. Centigrade. Yech.
-The polititians are now legally allowed to put up signs everywhere (although that didn't stop anyone before). All of the TV channels synchronize to show political ads a few times a day, and you don't see them outside of that time period.
-Bachelet is losing points, and it seems that there will be a second round of voting. There are currently 4 candidates (Bachelet, Piñera, Lavin, and Hirsch), and if nobody either wins a majority or if the next two candidates put together don't beat the "winner", then the top two candidates have a runoff. In this case, it would be Bachelet (Socialist Party) against Sebastian Piñera (Renovación Nacional...center right). Bachelet will still likely win, but it won't be the runaway that everyone had hoped for.
Not much more is happening...life is normal, and normal is good.
-Me.
