Angel Rosemary Cobb, born in an Alliance facility and given her first name by the nurses, was adopted by Jayne when he married her mother. She can shoot and knows basic self-defense, but she doesn’t enjoy violence. She prefers teaching. She helped her brother and cousin, Annabelle, how to read English and Chinese, do basic math, and whatever else she could get them to sit down long enough for, and when the mining colony on Haven was re-founded, Angel spent her time there at the local school.
When she was seventeen, Angel left Serenity to get her teaching certificate in an accelerated three year course on Parthenon that was specifically geared toward training teachers who would be stationed on Rim planets. She then went on to get training on Persephone in diagnosing and teaching children with learning disorders. She got passage there on Dewey’s new berth, the Redcrosse, and shortly thereafter, they began a formal romantic relationship and soon got married.
Angel began teaching on Haven only weeks after their wedding, and they had their first child, Dulcie, less than a year later. Their second child, Hank, was born three years after that, then their third, Tony, two years after Hank, and their last, Zoë-Deborah, roughly ten months after Dewey’s mother died in 2549.

Maxwell Thomas Cobb was born the year that his Mom turned 21 and his Pop turned 40. He was a test-tube baby, but he finally managed to lay Dewey out flat when he called Max that when he was only 11. He inherited both an aptitude for fighting and stealth, although when he was a young child, he was quite clumsy. He has an above average IQ, but suffers from dyslexia inherited from his father.
He started out helping his Pop on Serenity when he was fifteen, but eventually went freelance since he was more for breaking-and-entering than actually killing people. He mostly traveled around and did thug work and thievery in his early 20’s, but he still helped out on Serenity from time to time. Later, he headed security and covert ops for Xander Serra-Reynolds when he became Governor of Sherwood moon then later a Senator. He married a super-genius tech-girl, Tigerlily-Lil-that he met on a job. They had two children, Taya and Lucas.

Annabelle Lee Tam was the only child who came to Serenity the normal way. She inherited the infamous Tam intellect and ambition. She learned everything she could in math and science, as well as investigated every part of Serenity growing up. She followed her mom’s every move in the engine room and when she did technical repairs.
When she turned 16, Annabelle talked her parents into sending her to university on Bernadette, which was the Core, but relatively liberal, politically speaking. From there she went on to earn her doctorate at the age of 23 in aerospace design, and went to work designing spaceships. The first one she designed was a refurbished Firefly that quickly became popular with collectors and lovers of classic ships.
When she was 25 she met Marcus Shelton, a mechanic-turned-entrepreneur who owned a string of custom spaceship body shops. They married after two years of dating. Together they had twin daughters, but no other children.

Donald (Dewey) Reginald Washburn came to Serenity after his parents were killed in a house fire that left him with permanent scars on his back. He rarely takes his shirt off in public. By the time he was five he started calling his Aunt Zoë, “Mom.” River allowed him to copilot when he was twelve, and it turned out he had quite a knack.
He followed in his Uncle Wash’s footsteps and attended flight school when he was nineteen. Since River Cobb was still Serenity’s pilot, he took a job on another boat, the Redcrosse, for five years after graduation. Soon thereafter, he finally started officially dating Angel Cobb, and proposed to her after only a few months. He went on to take over piloting duties on Serenity when the Cobbs decided to settle down on Haven. He flew while Uncle Mal captained. They got a new mechanic, Tweek, when Kaylee got arthritis real bad and moved to Haven full-time where she started training mechanics and techs. Simon kept on as medic out of necessity. Zoë staid on as First Mate, although they had to hire new muscle, a truly terrifying behemoth named Chester, since Jayne’s knee gave out.
Angel and Dewey had four children together in ten years while he was flying and she taught school on Haven. His last child was born ten months after his mom’s death, and the girl was named after her grandmothers. After the death of Malcolm Reynolds, Dewey became captain of Serenity.

Alexander (Xander) In’am Serra-Reynolds, called “the heir apparent” by Dewey, is the son of Mal and Inara. His parents were never officially married, and he has no memories of living full-time on Serenity. Inara and Mal dissolved their common-law marriage of six years, and separated after a particularly gruesome job that went south, endangering all the inhabitants of Serenity. Inara decided that she couldn’t raise her son in that environment anymore. Xander lived most of his life at the Training House on Paquin, although he spent two weeks or every few months on Serenity with his dad. Mal made sure they only had safe, legal jobs during those times.
As an adult, Xander found a way to blend his parents’ worlds together. He studied law and went into politics bringing Independent/Planetary Rights issues to Parliament. He unabashedly used his mother’s connections, but retained ties with his father’s Browncoat veteran friends. He earned a lot of enemies, and called in Max and Lil Cobb as head of a spy network and security forces when he became Governor of Sherwood moon after Governor Fess Higgins; although he once avoided and disarmed a would-be assassin by himself during a live interplanetary news broadcast. He became a senatorial member of Parliament of re-founded Hera and ended up doing a lot of good for planet’s individual rights. He also kept a special eye out for unethical science grant proposals, which he shot down with what others saw as severe prejudice.
When he was 28, he married the daughter of the Paquinese elite, Tanglia Evangeline Darrius. Together they had one son, Zakari Darrius-Reynolds.
