This very important that you read this, and leave me your thoughts, good or bad. Most likely they will be negative, but that's okay. If you are living in the Portland area, or have lived here, or plan on living here...read this please.
I am going to make a timeline of events here....if you don't care to read the whole thing...skip to the section dated 2007. Thanks.
Summer 2002:
Moved into apartment, because we thought it was a nice location, it was a nice place, and we actually had some trees outside the window and some grass to look at.
Had issues with the people living above us, more the fact that they yelled at eachother all the time, (24/7) and they threw stuff at eachother.
Sometime in 2003 or 2004 can't really remember:
Our landlord at the time decided to sell the place to East End Corp. That was fine, no problems there.
Then a new couple moved into the apartment above us. The guy stabbed someone in the building because he was trying to help the man's wife get away from him (the man was chasing his wife with a knife and threating to kill her) Finally the cops got him out in the parking lot when he came home that day.
2004:
Had some water damage happen in the bathroom...which didn't get fixed for a while...(was done just before x-mas 2006 actually)
I'm sure other things went on that year, but I was busy with school.
2005-2006
The landlord tore down the old Sportsmen Bar & Grill (there had been a really bad fire in it back in Sept. '02) Flattened the area, and made it into a a parking lot kinda. Oh..and he dug up all the grass that was just past our parking spots, and cut the only big nice tree down too. No more birds singing in the tree, and no more kittys playing in the grass.
Finally in Dec, 2006 the landlord sent someone to fix our bathroom walls. And they actually fixed our leaking toliet (which had been leaking for 3 months...and they knew this).
2007 (yeah...we are only 11 days into the month and I have some shit to say):
Landlord informs me that I need to pay extra for my truck to park in the lot, which is fine. He decided to lease the rest of the parking lot out. He's just looking to make more money. Oh, and the landlord decided that the inside of the building needed a new paint job, so instead of brown and white, it's just all white. What...is he gonna pad our walls next, at least if he did it would be warmer in the apartment.
Okay..here's the fun part
1/10/07
7am:
Landlord was here looking at the parking areas, and talking to some fencing people.
7:30am:
Fencing people starting making a lot of noise, putting poles into the ground, in the area where the grass and tree used to be...oh in the neighbors have now lost half of their driveway because of the fence.
11am: Fencing people started putting the CHAIN LINK FENCE up.
1:40pm:
Left with family to go enjoy a day of shopping and a nice meal.
6:30pm:
Got home, and as we turned onto our road, saw that the fencing people had also fenced in the other side of the building, where the Bar & Grill used to be. So our building is set between 2 Chain Link Fences. Kinda like a prision really.
11pm:
Went to bed with headach.
1/11/07
7:30am:
The fencing people are at it again. Where the heck are they doing that now? Oh wait...I know. The other end of the parking lot. So now...not only is the parking lot a non-drivethrough area. It's all got a CHAIN LINK FENCE all the way around it. Our building is surrounded with chain link fences on 3 sides.
And the landlord didn't even have the right mind to inform the tenants that this was going to happen. He just did it. Now, no matter what window we look out, all we are gonna see is chain link fences.
Does anyone know of any places between Portland and Brunswick that are for rent?? We are 100% ready to move the hell out of this place. We are sick of this shit. The fence was the last straw. Don't rent from East End Corp. They are money hungry, and will make your living experience in Portland, Maine hell. At least it has been like that for us at this building of theirs.
Thanks for reading. And PLEASE leave your comments.
