I walked 25 minutes on the treadmill tonight! Who would have thought that I, the poster child for the sedentary lifestyle, would be able to do that? I got on the scale a few days ago and scared myself, so I started on my Weight Watchers stuff again. The old plan, the one I actually lost weight on, not that new points junk. That doesn't work for me. Wish me luck.
I've talked to Stephen several times online lately. Unfortunately, you just never know when he's going to pop in. Sometimes it will be the middle of the night in Iraq and he'll be online. The Army doesn't seem to have changed his sleeping habits much--at least not now that he's out of boot camp. He asked me for a bunch of stuff, including baby wipes, Q-tips and a giant Texas flag. Oddly enough, the Texas flag was the hardest thing to find. The woman at Walmart actually told me to try Ebay! Can you believe I'm in the heart of Texas and they didn't have them in their store??? Blasphemy! Sacrilege! Morons! HA! Well I went to the little hometown store in Weatherford and they had one. It was too much money, but you know I bought it anyway. Stephen bunks next to a soldier from Austin, and they want to hang it up between their bunks.
Alex got a job doing computer programming making more than I earned an hour when I was practicing nursing. It's a summer job, but at his interview they asked him if he'd be willing to work reduced hours when school starts. I wouldn't be surprised if he works there for for the rest of the time he's in school, then gets hired on full time. Things are going great for them at the moment. Katie hasn't found a job yet, and still feels like she needs to, but with Alex making this salary, she doesn't really need to.
The bunny is back in my yard. He's driving the cats crazy. You ought to see them race from window to window to get the best view.
Here are some more pics I took of him today, and one of my flowers. I still can't believe I planted flowers. Of course, they're the easy-to-grow kind and Mum will laugh, but it's my first attempt. And they's purdy!
Turner Classic Movies is featuring Bette Davis this month. I might fill up the hard drive on my DVR. Oh--DVR is like TiVo. You've heard of that, right? It's like...you record, but it goes onto a hard drive in your machine rather than on a tape or DVD. There are a couple of drawbacks--you can't cut out commercials while you are recording, and you can't share with anyone--but it's great still. I go through the tv schedule that comes in the paper on Sunday and see if there's anything I want to record, then I can go to that day on my on-screen schedule, select a program, push the "record" button, and forget about it.
Yeah. I really need to get a life, don't I?
